When I go to sleep at night, I like to have something in the morning to look forward to when I wake up. This helps me fall asleep faster and gets me excited about the prospect of a new day. I used to get excited about coffee, but now that I’ve been drinking it for so many years, the excitement has waned just a tad. When I was at training in Virginia, I was excited about the breakfast biscuits that were offered to me every morning, but training has now ended. So, I needed something new to be excited about in the morning.
My mornings are normally a whirlwind of waking up, doing my quiet time, getting dressed, doing my hair and makeup, watering my flowers, and eating a quick breakfast before heading out to start my day. I don’t really have the time to turn on the television to watch the news and see what’s going on in the world, so I sometimes go on Twitter to see what’s happening. However, Twitter isn’t the greatest source for reading up on the news, and I end up spending more time scrolling through tweets from my friends, rather than checking up on the latest happenings.
But I recently discovered The Newsette! The Newsette is a website that I have just started using as a way to stay on top of all the latest happenings around the world. It covers everything from fashion, to pop culture, to politics, to the hottest posts on Instagram.
I am subscribed to their newsletter so every morning as I eat my breakfast, I can open up my email and find the latest issue waiting to be read. It’s super interesting, and I like how I can just go there, read for a few minutes, and be up on everything I need to know around the world. It’s the perfect mini magazine for us busy ladies!
They just launched their new website, and it is so pretty and I’m loving the layout! Some of the latest article topics include Taylor Swift’s new album, nutrition tips, and an interview with the founder of Birchbox. So during that afternoon lull, you can just pop over to it and be inspired.
As a writer and author of The Smart Girl’s Guide to Surviving Her Twenties, I am really picky with what I read. The content must be solid and not too “fluffy”, and the writing must be exceptional. The Newsette exceeds me expectations.
I highly recommend that you check it out! You can see their new website here, and you can sign up for their daily newsletter on the top left hand corner of the home page.
And don’t forget- I’m giving away a copy of my book The Smart Girls Guide to Surviving Her Twenties! Go to my giveaway post for details.
What does your morning routine look like? Do you like to stay up on what’s going on around the world? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Hello Courtney. I usually take my dogs for a walk. After words I either research writing, read or write for at least fifteen minutes.

As i crawl out the underground parking lot, i make my way to the golden arches for coffee an a muffin, three butters an a peanut-butter…
Read a little of the today’s paper, i write some stinking poetry, then i’m off to collect some bottles to make the next meal, an what ever else i find which is discarded or unwanted…
Life of mine on the street…
Nonetheless own a five-million dollar house on Wall Street, that’s Vancouver BC, lets say that you have a million dollar view out every back window of the house nothing in between…
cheers darling!

Very interesting post! It is funny that getting excited for something makes you fall asleep faster, for me it does the complete opposite. When I am excited about something I lay there for so long thinking about it!!
