Thanks to the rise of veganism, beauty products have taken a turn for the natural. And now, with all of the ethical, plant-based beauty brands available to us, we no longer have to settle for products laden with harmful chemicals.
Many of the beauty products found in both drug stores and in high-end beauty stores are full of substances that can directly harm the environment and indirectly harm ourselves. And that’s just not okay. We need to be taking care of the earth and ourselves by preserving and not harming what we have been entrusted with.
In order to do so, we must be know what is inside of our beauty products.
“Ingredients such as synthetic fragrance, parabens, phthlates, petroleum, and synthetic colorants are potential carcinogens, hormone disruptors, or skin irritants,” says Sarah Villafranco, founder of Osmia Organics.
Sadly, most of these ingredients are found in our everyday hair and skincare products.
I don’t know about you, but I find that just a little bit terrifying.
I’m no doctor, but perhaps the reason so many people become victims of disease, cancer, and other health issues is because the ingredients we allow to be absorbed into our bodies on the daily are harmful to us.
By choosing not to use beauty products laden with harmful ingredients, our bodies will become better balanced, which means we won’t age as quickly. And when I say “age” I don’t just mean we will prevent wrinkles and sagging skin but also that our bodies will better be able to aide off potential illnesses and continue to function sufficiently as we grow older.
Below, I have gathered three plant-based beauty products that are free of harmful chemicals. These products are free from animal by-products (fish scales, emu oil, shark cartilage, gelatin, etc), cruelty-free (not animal tested!), and contain only organic or natural ingredients so you can feel safe when applying them to your skin and hair.
Not only are these brands and products ethical, but they are also incredibly effective.
1. Deity America
Deity America’s plant shampoo and plant conditioner are made with plant extracts that rapidly penetrates into the skin to effectively nourish the scalp and prevent hair loss. It also helps to promote blood circulation of the scalp and strengthens the firmness of the hair follicle and root.
My personal favorite product from Deity America is the Repairing Scalp Serum. I use serum in my hair almost every day, which you can see in the above pictures, and it leaves my hair soft and luscious- as though I’ve just walked out of a salon.
They also have Tibet Tonic Hair Growth Restorer, to help restore growth, a leave-in Hydrating and Repairing Scalp Treatment for over-treated hair, and a Serum Gro Nutmeg Scalp Treatment to accelerate hair growth naturally.
2. Tula Probiotic Skincare
Tula products use good-for-you bacteria that work to improve your health- both inside and out. These probiotics help to restore your skin’s natural balance, leaving your skin more hydrated, radiant, and resistant to damage in the future.
I’ve been using Tula products for nearly three months now and have noticed a huge change in my skin- it is much softer, and I have fewer breakouts.
Check out their three-step system, which contains cleanser , resurfacing gel , and day & night cream . They also have a Tula Starter Kit available so you can try it out and see how it works for you. You can see my results in my previous blog post, 5 Things You Need To Do Every Day For Flawless Skin.
3. Savvy Minerals Makeup by Young Living
With all of the great makeup offered by Savvy Minerals, it’s impossible to just choose just one product to write about. Savvy Mineral products are all-natural and free from harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and synthetic dyes (which you can learn more about here).
Not only that, but the products look and feel amazing. I am wearing Savvy Mineral makeup in the above pictures, and it looked natural and lasted all day long- which for me was a full 12 hours! I love wearing their bronzer with a touch of mascara for an effortless, sun-kissed look.
Savvy Minerals Makeup is a great value. The products come in sizes that will last a long time, and they are very high-quality. To shop, go to this link. Make an account, and go to Personal Care. Under personal care you will find Cosmetics. This is where you can shop for all your makeup needs. Or, you can build your own starter kit- which includes a membership to Savvy Minerals where you will receive 24% off all of your items.
It’s important to know about what’s going inside your beauty products. Don’t play the fool and ignore what you’re putting on your skin and hair. Remember, you’ve only got one body- and it has to last you a life time. Start taking care of yourself now, and you’ll reap the benefits throughout the rest of your life.
I know that switching out all of your products for natural products can be a difficult, and costly venture. Start by switching your products out little by little, as you run out of your current products and search for new ones.
To help you get started on your journey towards natural living, we are going to have a GIVEAWAY for a Wanderlust Eye Shadow!
All you have to do is:
- Order any Young Living product through this link.
That’s it- and you are entered.
I personally recommend the Crowned All Over Bronzer- I wear it almost every day.

Yes I couldn’t agree more with the fact that having chemicals in skincare products and makeup is both harmful and unnecessary! Thank you very much for sharing these brands with us as I am always looking to expand my collection after essentially throwing out anything I no longer wished to put on my face lol. xox

So important!!! What is the shampoo like? I have switched to baking soda to wash my hair.. and love the results of not having to wash my hair as often as when I was using a typical shampoo that was stripping my scalp dry. However.. sometimes I miss that rich foamy lather…

I’m always in search of natural beauty products. I am so reluctant to harmful chemicals in beauty products now, I’m unable to use a drugstore product again, it just makes me cringe and feel guilty about it every time. I feel like I’m just hurting myself whenever I have to use a product that contains those chemicals – maybe because I am. Thanks for those recommendations! ❤️

It’s true- we only put ourselves in jeopardy when we put those chemicals on our face! I’m glad there are other options nowadays. Thanks for reading!
